Sealed in three steps

No buttons and no batteries. A lid, a pump and about six seconds.

  1. Stainless lid placed on a wide-mouth mason jar

    Step 1

    Step 1: Lid on

Fill a wide-mouth mason jar and set a PURE stainless lid on top. Valved lid? You're ready. Plain lid? Add the PSA adapter.

  2. Hand pulling the MVP pump upward on a jar

    Step 2

    Step 2: Pump up

Seat the pump and pull upward 7–10 times. About six seconds, and you'll hear a quiet whoosh with each stroke.

  3. Juice in a lidded mason jar foaming as the pump draws the vacuum

    Step 3

    Step 3: Store it

Lift the pump off and the lid stays put. Into the fridge or pantry it goes. When you open it, the whoosh tells you it held.

Ditch the electric jar sealer.

By hand, the MVP seals a jar in about 6 seconds versus about 40 for an electric jar sealer, and removes up to 8× more oxygen than portable electric units. No cord, no charger, and it fits in a kitchen drawer.

Frequently asked questions

Which jars does it work with?

Any wide-mouth mason jar, including the ones already in your cupboard. The MVP lids are sized for wide-mouth jars, and jars are sold separately.

Valved lids or plain lids: which should I choose?

Valved lids: the pump connects straight to the lid, no adapter needed, and they hold slightly more vacuum. Plain lids: the pump connects through the PSA adapter, and with no valve on top they can't lose their seal from an accidental bump. If you carry jars in a bag or cooler, plain lids (or a one-piece lid over a valved lid) are the safer bet.

What is the PSA adapter, and do I need it?

The PSA (Perfect Seal Adapter) sits between the pump and a plain lid. PURE designed it to fit the widest variety of mason jars possible. You need it only with plain lids; valved lids don't use it. It comes in the plain-lid Ready-Set-Go set and in the Pump & Adaptor Set.

How many strokes does it take?

About 7–10 upward strokes, roughly six seconds per jar. That pulls 80–85 kPa of vacuum, removing 80–85% of the oxygen. For full vacuum, fill the jar to within 1/2 to 1-1/2 inches of the rim.

Is it hard to pump?

The stroke is an upward pull, and reaching full vacuum takes some strength and a little coordination. People of average strength can use it. Holding the jar steady on the counter helps.

Is it electric? Does it need charging?

No. The MVP is a manual hand pump: no batteries, no charging, no motor. It is quiet, too — you'll hear a soft whoosh as you pump.

How long does food keep?

PURE's guideline: juices and smoothies up to 1 week, fresh produce 1–2 weeks, dry goods 2–4 weeks — about double the storage life of juice. Results depend on how fresh the food was and how cold you keep it. Keep perishables in the fridge.

Can I use the MVP for canning?

No. Vacuum sealing is not a substitute for tested canning procedures; keep perishables refrigerated. The MVP lids are not currently certified for high-temperature canning. Use the system for everyday storage in the fridge and pantry.
